Flashback: Stuart
Sports Luxe has become a big trend throughout designer collections and high street stores over the past few years. It's the combination of luxurious materials with a sports aesthetic, making for a stylish outfit that looks casual and laid back, making for a comfortable outfit without losing any edge. Materials are thought to be a key element to the Sports Luxe trend, with soft cottons being at the top of the list for most items.
The rise of Sports Luxe was seen throughout the 1990s with Sally Kirkland, the former Vogue fashion editor saying that sportswear had become a key part of the international fashion scene. This trend was seen in the twice-yearly fashion presentations alongside top-end collections from Paris, Milan and London.
Pictured above is Stuart who used to wear sports clothing as a teenager. He said: "As a children, me and my brother would always wear sports clothing every day when we would change from our school uniform. We did this from a very young age all the way through our teens.
"In this picture I'm wearing Reebok tracksuit bottoms and a Champion hoodie which was my favourite thing back in the day. Our parents didn't mind us wearing these out as it wouldn't matter if they got ruined - they were only seen as casual clothes.
"Now, however, wearing sports clothing as a smart outfit has become a fashion trend, and not seen as just casual clothing. Some of the pieces I used to wear have actually be re-branded and being sold again now which is pretty cool, especially a lot of the Nike trainers I used to wear.
"I'm all over Sports Luxe at the moment because it means I can buy pieces that are on trend and style them as part of a great outfit, but they're also really comfortable."
With comfort meeting style, there's no wonder everyone's incorporating sportswear into their outfits.
