"This top is quite sentimental to me. I acquired it at a gig I went to, which was immediately after I’d handed in my Masters dissertation. I finished work on the dissertation in the morning, got it printed out, handed it in and at last all the stress of the past few months was over. I was finally able to relax a bit.
"I met up with my sister that evening and we went to watch Jacco Gardner. The next morning I went off the Berlin with some of my friends… so it’s a reminder of a special time in my life. I’d finished my degree and was having time to enjoy myself before I started working.
"There’s also a music and design aspect to why I like this top, Jacco Gardner is one of my favourite artists I love his ‘psychedelic baroque pop’ records, in particular Hypnophobia. The graphic on the picture is taken from the album artwork, which is by a guy called Julian House who has done work for all sorts of people, including artists from his own record label Ghost Box. Definitely one to check out!
"So, I love the strong design aspect, the three eyes and slightly spectral hands really conjure up that idea of hypnophobia, which is the fear of sleep. I like that with this top there’s more than just the appearance for why I enjoy wearing it, there’s also the sentimental reasons because of how it takes me back to a really positive point of my life."
