"I remember going home for the Christmas break in my first year of university and raiding a trunk of my dad’s old pullovers. I wasn’t quite prepared for how cold it was going to be up north when I first came to university, and I really like oversized pullovers, so my dad’s ones were a perfect fit! From the trunk, I pulled out a few snazzy knitted numbers.

"Many of them had been knitted by my dad’s mum, my grandma. I picked a few that I wanted to take back to uni with me and asked my parent’s permission to take them with me, to which they both said, “Of course! We’re surprised that you didn’t pick out the pink one though!” I was puzzled, as I hadn’t seen the pink amongst the beiges and creams.

"A few days passed and my dad came to me, with this garishly bright pink jumper in hand, which had found its way away from the other jumpers. I asked him if he actually went out in it back in the day, to which he said, “men can wear pink too, you know!” Forward on to third year, and it’s still one of my favourite jumpers.

"The pink colour makes it the perfect addition to a spring outfit, but it’s still thick enough to be able to layer up with during the colder days in Lincoln. I also really like that it was owned by my dad, and also made by my grandma, so it means nobody else has the same jumper, and it's a little bit of them that I can have with me while away from home."
