"These trousers were from a street market in Cambodia. I love them, I don’t end up wearing them a lot but when I do wear them they remind me of my travels.
Last summer (June – July 2016) I went on a month long trip to Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. I have so many memories from it. It really was a trip to remember.
The trousers only cost 4 quid sometimes you really can find the best things in markets!
My favourite memory from the trip was a night where we were eating food from a street market called Benthanh and then got a cyclo back home. A cyclo is a three-wheeled bike, taxi kind of thing. It ended up being a weird night to be honest.
We wanted to get a cyclo because me and my friends had been reading this book called ‘First they killed my father… A daughter of Cambodia remembers’. In it the girl in there has fond memories of her and her mum going to town on a cyclo to go grocery shopping. This was before the Khmer Rouge came into power and that destroyed her life. The book interested us all so much that it inspired us to get a cyclo.
The cyclo driver was really old though and because we lived quite far away from the market it was a struggle for him, we had to help him push the cyclo up the hill! We made it back home though and paid him triple what he was asking for.
So when I wear these trousers it reminds me of the amazing times I had travelling."
